“Development of high school students’ competencies for (self) representation in real and digital environment”

The main theme of the project is communication and performance in a real and digital environment – creation stimulating environment for the personal development of the individual and the community.

Specific goal of the project: Improving the skills of public speaking and performing in a digital environment among young people – high school students, by organizing a set of educations on the topic of adequate and safe performance in the online world, as well as education on the topic of public speaking. The ultimate goal of all this is empowered young people who have acquired the skills of self-advocacy and adequate communication, which positively reflects on their private and professional (academic) life.

Direct beneficiaries are young high school students (15-18 years old), mostly from Belgrade municipalities, with different educational orientations, with respect for an inclusive approach (members of different social groups will be included). The total number of direct beneficiaries is 60, with equal gender representation. The place of implementation of the project activities is Belgrade.

Indirect beneficiaries of the project are young people – high school students and academics from Serbia; parents/guardians; teaching staff, employees in educational, as well as social and health care institutions; culture and information; the media; the general public.

Project implementation period: June 1 – November 30, 2023.

Kick off workshop 

At the kick off workshop – introductory workshop, the project participants got information about the project as well as its goals, tasks and duration. Through the mini-lecture and exercises, the group was introduced to the techniques of public speaking, and they had the opportunity to present their suggestions regarding what to emphasize in future workshops.

Executive workshops on the topic “Public speaking”

The guest at these workshops was actress Olivera Viktorovic, who introduced to project participants the techniques of public performance, through exercises and the direct participation of the participants themselves. Some speeches, rapids, gesticulation, suggestiveness have been practicing.

Final workshop – public speech by participants

At the final workshop, the project participants had the opportunity to tell the story in front of the audience, applying the rules of public performance that we practiced in the previous workshops.

The stories were created on the basis of group work between all the participants of the project, and the spokespersons won interesting prizes of an educational and entertaining nature (entertainment in Escape rooms and watching movies in Cineplexx cinemas). They have the opportunity to bring their friends and have fun together in these activities.

We believe that public speaking is a new skill for high school students!
