The final conference of the project “Training, work practice and the possibility of employment in the field of home care for the elderly”

On June 30, 2022. A conference was held in Belgrade in the City Assembly on the occasion of the completion of the project “Training, work practice and the possibility of employment in the field of home care for the elderly”. The project is implemented by the Help Net Support and Inclusion Center in cooperation with the German Organization for International Cooperation – Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), within the “Migration for Development” program, which is part of the “Return to New Chances” initiative of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs cooperation and development (BMZ).

The results of the project were presented at the conference, and actors who were involved in the implementation of the project took part, so the audience had the opportunity to listen to different and relevant perspectives of the project participants.

The following spoke at the conference:

  • Gordana Milovanović, president of the Help net association;
  • Anđela Čeh, project coordinator;
  • Miroljub Nikolić, director of Caritas Šabac, a licensed provider of Help in the Home service, a partner organization in the project, and
  • Vesna Popović, a gerontohomemaker from Raška, who successfully completed the training program, went through work practice and employment

Namely, the trainings were held in 8 cities across Serbia. The training package included: Accredited training program for geronto-housewives to provide Home Help services to the elderly and disabled; ; Basics of psychosocial support in the relationship with the elderly and measures of prevention and protection against the COVID-19 virus in contact with users..

After the accredited training, 141 people received certificates for providing services at the Republic Institute for Social Protection, and then 100 of them received the opportunity for paid internships, and half received permanent employment in this field. In this way, a large number of those who fall into the hard-to-employ categories were given the opportunity to realize work capacities and permanent employment.
