Prevention of risky forms of young people’s behavior through their joint participation in educational and sports activities

Projekat The project “Prevention of risky forms of behavior of young people through their joint participation in educational and sports activities” refers to the prevention of risky forms of behavior through a set of educations on socially acceptable patterns of behavior, as well as breaking gender stereotypes that are often caused by traditional beliefs and gender roles in society. For young people, beneficiaries of the project, educational workshops and socializing with peers can be a form of support, and after the crisis period caused by the COVID-19 pandemic in the last two years, it is recognized that young people, especially through social networks, show their current mental state, which is recognized by professionals as a risky behavior that is primarily dangerous for themselves. Therefore, it is very important to connect all the factors that cause risky forms of behavior, especially for young people who are in the period of middle adolescence, which makes up the calendar age group of young people from 15 to 18 years old (youth of high school age). From the psychosocial aspect, gender stereotypes among high school students can produce some forms of risky behavior between two different sexes (male-female relationships between teenagers and teenage girls). Therefore, it is necessary to influence the suppression of gender stereotypes and prevent risky forms of behavior through an educational set of workshops with young people, while empowering them to become peer educators and to transfer the acquired knowledge to other young people, with sports activities that contribute to peer bonding, as well as an online campaign that they will promote themselves high school students project activities and the importance of the topic itself.

The general goal of the project is to contribute to the prevention of risky forms of behavior and the preservation of the mental health of adolescents – high school students in Serbia through educational and sports activities that have a participative character.

The specific goal of the project is to improve the knowledge of high school students about the recognition of risky forms of behavior that manifest in the real and digital world, which in a certain way encourage stereotypical gender beliefs, as well as the acquisition of information and knowledge about protective strategies when manifestations of risky forms of behavior occur in their environment.

In July 2022, the Competition for the best essay was announced. Young people are invited to share with us ideas on how to solve peer problems and conflicts. The young people were expected to present in writing a problem that occurred or may occur in their relationship with their peers, and suggest how you would solve it, with as little damage as possible on both sides. The best 5 works are awarded with monetary value.
